On Republicanism
What does it matter if a political party wins an election but loses its principles, loses its soul, loses its foundations. That was the phrase that rolled around my head when I declared my candidacy for State Assembly. I hear so often that there is no difference between the Republicans and Democrats. There are times when I look at the results we’ve had in this state and in this city and I am inclined to agree. But I believe that Republicans are different and need to stay that way. As candidates and as elected officials, we need to stay true to our current National Party Platform. In my last election I stuck to those principles. Because of that, I found like-minded voters and got them to come out to the polls. I doubled the numbers of the previous GOP candidate that ran against my opponent.
I believe as Republican candidates we need to be different. There is no need for us to act like Democrats to win an election. We shouldn’t hide what we really believe in. We should be proud of it. Voters should have a real clearly defined choice when they go to the polls. In the 44th Assembly District, I’m going to give them a choice. I promise to stay true to my convictions and not be swayed.
