Same-Gender Marriage

I believe that marriage should be exclusively between one man and one woman.  I believe that marriage was created by God as sacred and ordained it since the beginning of civilization.  I believe that children benefit most from having both a Mom and a Dad.

In New York State, same-gender “marriage” advocates are intolerant of our moral objections and are forcing everyone to accept their desires.   For example, a photographer is being sued in California because he refused to photograph the wedding of a same-gender couple.  Churches will eventually be legally pressured to perform same-gender weddings.  If same-gender “marriage” is found to be constitutional and a fundamental human right, as defined in Massachusetts, the ACLU will successfully argue that the government is underwriting discrimination by offering tax exemptions to churches and synagogues that only honor natural marriage.  Garden Grove church in New Jersey has already been sued by a same-gender couple who wanted to use their beachfront property for a commitment ceremony.  Garden Grove is no longer performing any weddings at all on the beachfront.

Governor Patterson is proving my point about the intolerance of the same-gender “marriage” advocates.  Even though New York State does not permit same-gender “marriage,” Governor Patterson issued a proclamation to ensure all state agencies recognize same-gender “marriages” performed out of state.  In a lawsuit, New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms is seeking an injunction against the Governor’s proclamation to recognize out-of-state same-gender “marriages.” There is also a law suit, which pre-dates Patterson’s decision, which is challenging a similar policy in Westchester County.  I support these challenges because it supports my moral belief that marriage should be exclusively between one man and one woman.
