Social Conservatism

I believe the definition of marriage is one man with one woman. I agree with the Republican National Committee’s Platform that states, “the well-being of children is best accomplished in the environment of the home, nurtured by their mother and father anchored by the bonds of marriage.” My commitment to social conservatism includes the fundamental individual right to life, which cannot be infringed. I agree with President Bush that, “the most basic duty of government is to defend the life of the innocent. Every person, however frail or vulnerable, has a place and a purpose in this world.”

I support the death penalty for murderers. I remember hearing a statement once, and I don’t know who to attribute it to. I’ve adopted it. It is: “Abortion is the death penalty deliberately inflicted on the innocent. The death penalty is death deliberately inflicted by the state on the guilty. Euthanasia is death deliberately inflicted on the handicapped or suffering.” My support of the death penalty is not in conflict with my pro-life issues.
